How was your result provided?

Premise: This tool is made to calculate the amount of the NATURALLY lost hair so it doesn't count (for obvious reason) the times you cut your hair.

As we specified in the disclaimer, the data is based on average general values and is intended for entertainment purposes, but of course there is truth behind the number you got. Like we said in the results page we want to be as transparent as possible about our estimation process, so in this paragraph you will find an explanation about the algorithm we used to calculate your result, including the formulas and assumptions made.

The algorithm

This calculator was the trickiest to build, because there are a lot more factors than the Feces Calculator or Urine Calculator to consider to get you a precise estimation number. Basically we looked for the average number of lost hair per day for an adult man which is between 50 to 100, and all the things that can modify this number. Then we found out that, as you can see in the calculator form, the most relevant factors are: diet, age, gender, phisical activity, stress level and also the climate of the region where you live. Basically, we made an index that reduces the total amount of hair loss if you have a balanced diet, if the climate is hot, if you have a low stress level and if you do phisical activity a lot. Viceversa, the index decreases the value if you pick the opposite option such as high stress level. Then we found out that women lose less hair than men due to genetics. Also we made the first years of life less impactful, because also children, as expected, don't reach the level of an average adult man or woman. In the end, for the "more accurate results" section, we simply subtract the "bald years" amount to the total and increase the average value if the alopecia question is flagged. Now, considering all these factors, we can give you the total number of lost hair.
